Associate Manager


Role purpose
To act as an in-charge on the audits and oversee the work performed by junior members of staff to ensure that the work done is in accordance with the tax practice of the firm.
 
Main Duties & Accountabilities:
  • Work with the engagement management and team to create plans for accomplishing the engagement objectives and a strategy that complies with professional standards and appropriately addresses risks
  • Monitor the progress of the engagement team against the plan and alter it when needed
  • Proactively monitor and address issues regarding billing and collections
  • Demonstrate and set high standards of behavior, performance quality, credibility, and integrity
  • Produce quality client correspondence
  • Formulate client service plans to maximize net revenues through a combination of services
  • Identify ways to leverage technology to ensure effective knowledge management and efficient engagement execution
  • Develop and maintain an expertise in the taxation area, including but limited to tax treaties, transfer pricing and practices in other jurisdictions and act as a resource for tax staff
  • Represents clients before the tax authorities
  • Delegates work to tax staff and supervise their work
  • Review all tax returns and submissions to the tax department and deliverables to clients
  • Assist audit, accounting, and advisory staff in client meetings on tax matters
  • Review tax accruals and associated working papers
  • Communicate ideas/opinions and information to the audit team and listen/respond to other team members views
  • Foster an efficient, innovative, and team-oriented work environment

  • Set objectives and communicate effectively
  • Be accessible and maximize contribution of staff
  • Understand the Firm’s service lines and actively assess/present ways to apply knowledge and services

  • Delegate effectively and monitor progress to ensure expectations are met through initiating discussions with service team and obtaining on-going feedback from client
  • Manage, motivate and provide guidance to staff
  • Identify training needs
  • Monitor team’s work to ensure it is consistent with the firm’s quality standards and audit approach
  • Be conscious of professional liability
  • Refer ethical, independence and conflict issues associated with clients and assignments to the Partner/Manager
  • Demonstrate project management skills and effectively manage their own time across different engagements
  • Develop understanding of client industries and identify value added recommendations
  • Responsible to the engagement manager for day-to-day client contact and conduct of tax work

Educational and Professional Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s/College degree, Professional License (Passed Bar/Professional License exam), Post graduate Diploma/Master’s degree in law or equivalent
  • CPA is preferred
  • 3 to 4 years of post-qualification experience in public accounting and tax, preferably in a public accounting firm
  • Should be a team leader and should ensure that value-added services are provided to new and existing clients
  • Should have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills (Knowledge of Arabic will be an advantage)
  • Should have a strong personality and excellent presentation skills
  • Should be proactive with staff and clients and be able to work under pressure to meet client expectations and deadlines with ability to multi-task
  • Should be able to cross sell the services of the Firm
  • Should be able to assist with training by both tutoring and arranging suitable courses
  • Should be able to lead a team of staff and manage a varied and portfolio of clients
