Maricar has more than 35 years of experience in general audit, handling the audit of companies in various industries. She honed her skills further with advanced training in the US under a secondment program at BDO Seidman USA. During her stay with BDO Seidman, Maricar handled several profit entities and non-profit organizations in Maryland, Washington D.C., Wisconsin and Virginia.

Maricar also experienced managing an audit team that conducted the financial and management audits of two European Union (EU) Projects in the Philippines - Palawan Tropical Forestry Protection Programme (PTFPP) and Earthquake Rehabilitation Programme (ERP-Health Component) situated in Palawan and La Union provinces.
